HUNTERS AND FISHERMEN CONTRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF THE SOCIETY

There are people whose memory, through their existence, provides an intangible, immaterial and irreplaceable legacy interpreting the deep transformations occurred in the last one hundred years, in the social, cultural, economic, politic or environmental scope.
“Living Human Treasures” is an initiative leaded by the UNESCO, Diputación Foral De Bizkaia and the Deusto University wich pretends to maintain alive the life experiences of some people, individually or beeing representative of a group, in the way the new generations could know about them and take them into account.
Today I have known that one of those selected people will be my father, Juan Antonio Sarasketa Legina. An alive treasure, without question. Believe it or not, that’s one more step in the hard work to put hunting where it has to be for its own right. Because apart of being hunters we are also citizens who contribute to the growth of our society, we are hunter citizens.
